ACCREDITATION

All journalists and media technical staff (reporters, camera and sound crews, photographers, technical setup staff and electricians, press and communication officers of partner organisations) wishing to cover the conference sessions must be accredited by the International Media Forum South Africa (IMFSA).

The International Media Forum South Africa (IMFSA) welcomes a limited number of local, national and international media to cover the event. To qualify for consideration you must fall into the following category:

  • Working print journalist for publicly seen and available newspaper, magazine or widely available newsletter
  • Working broadcast journalist for a known radio or television outlet
  • Working website journalist
  • Working photographer or camera person  


You DO NOT qualify for media accreditation if you fall within the following categories:

  • Non-working members of staff of the above groups
  • Public relations and communications staff
  • Representatives of marketing or advertising agencies
  • Student journalists


All applicants must be able to prove they are working for a media outlet relevant to the subjects under discussion.

All applications must be submitted to the organisers at least five days in advance. Deadline for media accreditation is 4pm on Friday 16th May 2008:

  • Accreditation will only be considered if the application is submitted via our website and on time.
  • The organisers reserve the right to refuse accreditation and entry to the event

MEDIA GUIDELINES

  • Television, radio crews and photographers should arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of a plenary session for set-up
  • Television crews are requested to set up their cameras at the back of the auditorium. Please be sure to bring a large/long zoom. There are no other set-up possibilities for cameras as the aisles must be kept clear for security reasons

PRESS REGISTRATION

Press registration for accredited media will open on Wednesday, 21 May at 0800 at the Press Registration Desk, which is located at the entrance of the Conference Centre. Upon registration, journalists will receive their personal press badge, the 2008 International Media Forum South Africa (IMFSA) press pack, and the final programme with the times and venues of sessions, the final list of participants and other relevant information.

MEDIA BREAKAWAY ROOM AND TV CORNER

A designated media breakaway room will be made available for accredited journalists attending the Forum to conduct interviews, as well as for television and video crews to film their interviewees. The following facilities will be made available:

  • Access to a landline
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Facsimile

INTERVIEW REQUESTS

Requests for interviews should be made through the Jenni Newman Public Relations; we will try to ensure access, but cannot guarantee availability of leading speakers. Journalists requesting specific interviews should make their request known as soon as possible; we recommend 24-hours in advance.
